Our NUMBER ONE priority at Rumples ‘n Rinkles is to produce healthy, loving, quality Shar-Pei. We do not breed often, but our breeding program is focused soley upon the premise that it is our duty to better our breed and to produce a dog that is befitting the name “Shar-Pei”. Below are just a few of the goals we strive to achieve.
¨ Breed only healthy, x-rayed/OFA certified dogs & bitches ¨ Breed only based upon health, temperament & conformation of breeding stock ¨ Place companion and show dogs in loving, approved homes on private contract basis |

When we purchased our first Shar-Pei in 1985, we had no idea how great an impact this breed would have upon our family. We have owned and shown 10 different breeds to their championships. However, none have ever been as special to us as our Shar-Pei. We are truly a “dog family.” All of us are active in the sport of showing dogs, both in conformation and in Junior Showmanship, with a little dabbling in agility & obedience. Both of our children, Shea (now 23) and Savanna (15) began showing at very young ages and have succeeded where no other Shar-Pei Junior Handlers have before or since. |

The Chinese Shar-Pei, an ancient and
unique breed, is thought to have originated in the area around the small
village of Tai Li in Kwangtung Province, and has existed for centuries in the
southern provinces of China, apparently since the Han Dynasty (c. 200 B.C.).
Statues bearing a strong resemblance to the Shar-Pei have been discovered and
dated to this period. More recently, a Chinese manuscript of the 13th century
has been translated; it refers to a wrinkled dog with characteristics much like
those of the Shar-Pei. |
